TV

Titled 'Super Bowl Sunday', the episode also saw how the Pearsons and Rebecca dealt with Jack's death at the present day during annual anniversary of Jack's death.

AceShowbiz - The mystery is solved. Fans of "This Is Us" finally learned how Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) met his end in Sunday, February 4 episode. The 14th episode, titled "Super Bowl Sunday", confirmed previous speculation from last week's episode that faulty crock pot killed him.

[SPOILER ALERT!] The episode picked up in the moments where things left off in the previous episode, in which the Pearson patriarch forgot to properly turn off the crock pot they got from George and Sally. Jack awoke in the middle of the night and saw the smoke. He immediately rushed to get teenage Randall (Niles Fitch) out of his room.

He also asked Rebecca (Mandy Moore) to wet all of the towels and kept teenage Kate (Hannah Zeile) from opening her door to avoid a backdraft situation. Jack successfully led his family to safety but he decided to go back inside the burning house to save Kate's dog Louie.

Viewers thought that Jack wouldn't make it to go out of the house after getting the fury friend, but no. He came out of the front door with a dog in his hand. With some second degree burns on his hands, Jack and Rebecca went to a hospital. Jack suffered a lot of smoke inhalation.

Rebecca was later seen making a phone call as she tried to get a hotel for the kids. Little did she knew, leaving Jack alone in the room might be something she would regret for the rest of her life. Hospital personnel ran around in dramatic slow-mo, before a doctor approached Rebecca and told her that Jack went into cardiac arrest from the smoke inhalation.

And later, the doctor said those words which Rebecca refused to hear. "Mrs Pearson, your husband has died." Rebecca understandably couldn't believe what was the doctor had said, telling the doctor to go away.

The episode also featured the Pearsons in the present day during the annual anniversary of Jack's death. Rebecca made his favorite lasagna, while Kate watched the videotape which Jack saved from the fire. Kevin was seen heading to his father's tree.

"This Is Us" season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. on NBC.
