As Kaiju are back and destroy the city, Dr. Hermann Gottlieb suspects that there's a person behind the attack.

AceShowbiz - The Kaiju are back, but so are the brave Jaeger pilots. A new trailer for "Pacific Rim Uprising" sees John Boyega's Jake Pentecost turning from a troublemaker and party boy into a charismatic Jaeger pilot, fulfilling his father General Stacker Pentecost's (Idris Elba) wish.

Initially reluctant, Jake takes on the mantle after Kaiju wreak havoc and destroy the city. "How'd they get into our world?" Jake asks. "Someone let them in. Someone from our world," Dr. Hermann Gottlieb, who is still portrayed by Burn Gorman, says.

Joined by new recruits including Amara Namani (Cailee Spaeny), Jake, Nate Lambert (Scott Eastwood) and more pilot the Jaegers. "There are pilots we remember as legends. But they didn't start out that way. They started out like us," Jake gives the cadets a pep talk. "This is our time to make a difference."

But with a human among them orchestrating the attack, their biggest enemy is not the Kaiju as Jake and Nate inside their Jaeger are seen fighting another Jaeger which is not from their side.

According to the official description of the film, John Boyega ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens") stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity's victory against the monstrous "Kaiju." Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld.

But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father's legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)-who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.

Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the sci-fi action movie is set to be unleashed into theaters across the nation on March 23, almost four years after the original "Pacific Rim" was released in 2013. Charlie Day returns as Dr. Newt Geiszler, with Jing Tian, Adria Arjona, Karan Brar and more joining the cast.
