AceShowbiz - The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has just announced the full list of movie nominees for the 2018 BAFTA Awards, and the "The Shape of Water" leads the pack with 12 nods. The Guillermo del Toro-directed sci-fi flick is now dominating the list of nominees at the upcoming awards ceremony after the helmer won the Best Director award at the recent Golden Globes in addition to Best Original Score for Alexandre Desplat.
Tied for second place in terms of number are "Blade Runner 2049" and "Dunkirk", earning 8 nominations apiece. The Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi pic is up for Best Director and Best Special Visual Effects among others. Meanwhile the Christopher Nolan-directed war drama is vying for Best Film and Best Director prizes among others.
In Best Animated Film category, "Coco", which was announced as the Best Animated Film at Sunday's Golden Globes, will be competing against "Loving Vincent" and "My Life as a Courgette". The biggest winner at the Golden Globes, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri", as well as other films like Jordan Peele's "Get Out", Steven Rogers' "I, Tonya" and Greta Gerwig's directorial debut "Lady Bird" are also in contention.
The 71st annual BAFTA Awards will be held at London's Royal Albert Hall on February 18, with Joanna Lumley hosting.
