The 27-year-old Australian actress/producer was hit with death threats following her appearance as Harley Quinn in the David Ayer-directed antihero film.

AceShowbiz - Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" was met with praises, and she has continuously gushed over taking on the role of the pig-tailed villainess. However, the Aussie actress apparently has one regret about playing the character, as she told The Hollywood Reporter that she received death threats following the release of the film in 2016.
"You're about to be in a comic book film; now here's the worst-case scenario of how big and scary it can get," she said. "There's just all this stuff you learn along the way, like, when you get those death threats, it's [smart] to have a security team do a background check on whoever sent them to see if there is any past history of violence because you'll need to know whether you need security to go to certain events."
"And every time you do a background check, it's going to cost $2,000," the 27-year-old actress and producer told the publication, before adding, "so take that into consideration when you're getting yourself into this."
"And it's like, 'OK, that's a different kind of career,' " Robbie said. "Because then you need to always do a job that can financially support that lifestyle; you can't just do indie films for the rest of your life because that film back there changed everything and now you have to be able to afford security," she explained. "I just wish someone had explained a lot of those things to me early on. I wouldn't have resented the position I found myself in because I would've known what I was getting myself into."
Of playing Harley Quinn, Robbie said, "I didn't get enough of her!" She gushed, "I was like, 'I need to keep playing her!' I love her so much."
Robbie is set to reprise the role of the baseball bat-wielding antihero in "Suicide Squad 2" and two other films, an untitled Joker and Harley Quinn project and "Gotham City Sirens". The actress recently revealed that she's also developing a completely new Harley Quinn movie that's separate from the three mentioned movies.
