AceShowbiz - The Baudelaire orphans will soon be back with their never-ending unfortunate events. Alongside a newly-released first teaser, Netflix has announced that the sophomore season of "A Series of Unfortunate Events", a TV adaptation of book series by Lemony Snicket, will premiere this March.

Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), who has been vying for the orphans' inheritance following their parents' deaths, opens the fourth-wall breaking teaser. "I'm so sorry to disturb your recovery, but it's time for us to get this New Year's Day binge started," villainous Olaf says while holding two machetes. "But those are the same people who wouldn't recognize handsome if it set your house on fire. So dive on in, distract yourself with this first look at season 2 of 'A Series of Unfortunate Events', premiering March, 30. Cheers."

Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire (Presley Smith) later are seen being chased by angry ladies before escaping a ladder in a truck leading to what look likes a plane. But things won't be easy for the siblings as they encounter Count Olaf's new persona, European auctioneer Gunther. "Does this seem like a nightmare? Because that's the effect I was going for," Gunther says while a scene of Violet, Klaus and Sunny falling down an elevator shaft flickers on the screen.

Season 2 of the Netflix series is set to cover book 5 ("The Austere Academy") through 9 ("The Carnivorous Carnival") of Snicket's 13 book series. "Tonally, we have more action, and things are little darker and sadder," executive producer Barry Sonnenfeld speaks of the upcoming season. "Now that we're in season 2 -- and I think the same is true with the books -- now the Baudelaires can start to take some control and try and take more action. I think season 2 ends up being a little bigger in its scope and scale, but also allows for a little bit of a more fevered heartbeat from our protagonists," Harris adds.

The new season will introduce new villain, Esme Squalor (Lucy Punch). She will join forces with Olaf in his devious plan for the siblings. Also set to further add misery to the orphans' lives at Prufrock Preparatory School is Carmelita Spats (Kitana Turnbul).

Also starring K. Todd Freeman and Patrick Warburton, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" season 2 will premiere on March 30 on Netflix.
