'Stargate: Origins' Releases First Trailer, Gets February Premiere Date

Alongside the 'Indiana Jones'-inspired trailer, MGM reveals the premiere date of the series, which is produced for the new digital platform Stargate Command.

AceShowbiz - MGM/New Form has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming series, "Stargate: Origins". Based on the sci-fi franchise, the 10-episode series serves as the prequel as it will explore young Catherine Langford's journey surrounding the extraordinary portal.

"Discover the untold story," the trailer says at the beginning. The trailer seems to indicate that Catherine's father, Professor Langford (Connor Trinneer), doesn't only discover the Stargate but also manages to open the wormhole. His discovery seemingly attracts the attention of Nazis as Langford is seen being captured.

Played by Ellie Gall, young Catherine can be seen saying, "From now on, I'm in charge." Accompanied by two friends, Catherine is embarking on a journey through Nazis, Egypt and the desert planet Abydos.

Alongside the "Indiana Jones"-inspired trailer, MGM reveals the premiere date of the series, which is produced for the new digital platform Stargate Command. "Stargate: Origins" is scheduled to premiere on February 15, 2018 on Stargate Command.

"Stargate: Origins" centers on Catherine as she is on the way to helping unlock the secrets of an ancient technology that could change the very course of humanity. She is set to solve the mystery which lies ahead the Stargate in order to save Earth from a darkness. More specific details about the plot haven't been disclosed yet.

Also starring on the series are Philip Alexander, Salome Azizi, Michelle Jubilee Gonzales, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin and Tonatiuh Elizarraraz. They are joined by Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe. Mercedes Bryce Morgan directs the series from a script by Mark Ilvedson and Terry.

The original 1994 movie, which was directed by Roland Emmerich from a script by him and Dean Devlin, starred Viveca Lindfors as Catherine and Vint Castro as young Catherine.
