The 'A Wrinkle in Time' star reportedly welcomed her first child, a baby girl, on December 15.

AceShowbiz - Mindy Kaling can now add mother to her resume. The 38-year-old actress has welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Katherine Kaling. She reportedly gave birth to her daughter on Friday, December 15. E! News broke the news.
News of Mindy's pregnancy first broke in July. The pregnancy was said "an unexpected surprise." She confirmed the news a month later, saying on Today" show, "It's so unknown to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where it's like, 'Okay!' It's out of my hands, which is kind of a fun feeling."
Of what kind of a mom she wanted to be, she said, "I'd like to be the fun mom, I know I'm gonna be the dorky mom. So if I can be kind of fun too, I think that would be nice."
She added, "My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us but was just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did. My career choice was not something she was familiar with, and she was just so supportive of that, and if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I'd be so happy."
Later in the same month, her "A Wrinkle in Time" co-star Oprah Winfrey spilled the beans about the sex of her baby. Mindy then confirmed on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in October that she was expecting a girl.
"I am not waiting," she told Ellen DeGeneres. "I wanted to know way early." She also talked about Oprah revealing her baby's gender, "At first it was like, 'OK, if anyone was going to announce big news about your private life, Oprah Winfrey is the person,' " she said. "You can't complain that much about it. You also can't be like, 'Hey, Oprah, zip it.' Because she's almost like a religious figure."
"I actually thought, 'Well, OK, if there's one person I have to tell my daughter about that revealed her existence to the world, Oprah's pretty good," Mindy added. "At a certain point, I was like, you can't take it back, so I thought-there are worse things."
Mindy, who has been notoriously private about her personal life, has not revealed the identity of the baby's father. "The Mindy Project" star and creator dated actor B.J. Novak on and off for several years when they were working together on the TV series "The Office". She was later linked to Benjamin Nugent, but is currently single.
