Artist of the Week: Eminem
Music

After stepping out of the spotlight for a few years, the Detroit rapper has finally released a new track entitled 'Walk on Water', which shows a more mature side of him.

AceShowbiz - Eminem has come a long way since his humble beginnings as a street rapper. He has now become one of the most brilliant artists in the hip-hop industry with a series of incredible songs. While the Detroit rapper has been known for his intense, bitter songs, he appears to be testing a new style of rap on his newly-released track "Walk on Water" featuring Beyonce Knowles.

Unlike Eminem's previous tracks, "Walk on Water" shows a more mature side of the rapper, who writes rhymes on his own career and the pressure that comes with every move he makes nowadays. "Why are expectations so high? Is it the bar I set?/ My arms, I stretch it, but I can't reach," he raps.

Following the release of the track, fans have mixed reactions to the track, but most of them praise the rapper for changing his style on this song. A music critic even said that the song is "a ray of sunshine in the era of mumble rap darkness." Eminem is also praised for ending his bars with full sentences and complete thoughts since very few rappers do this.

On the chart, the track, which will be included in his upcoming effort, arrived at No. 14 on Billboard Hot 100, marking the highest debut on that week's Hot 100. It opened on Digital Song Sales at No. 2 and Streaming Song at No. 15.

Eminem also recently made his live comeback by performing the said track at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, which was held on November 12 at Wembley Arena in London. However, instead of performing with Beyonce, Eminem was joined by his longtime collaborator Skylar Grey, who co-wrote the song.

Also at the award show, Eminem was presented with the Best Hip Hop Award. During his acceptance speech, the "Rap God" hitmaker said that he wasn't sure about his win since he had not released any album in a few years, but he quickly added that he had one coming. "I wanna thank fans and I wanna thank to Chuck D and B-real. These guys are Gods for me," he said.
