The 40-year-old songstress takes to Instagram to share the bad news, saying that her nightmare continues as she finds herself in a difficult battle with the illness.

AceShowbiz - Shakira has a bad news for fans who are waiting for her recovery. Instead of announcing the rescheduled dates for her "El Dorado" tour, she has announced on Instagram that she had to postpone her European tour dates until next year due to vocal hemorrhage.

In the lengthy post, which was written in both English and Spanish, the 40-year-old songstress revealed that her vocal cords were in perfect condition in July. However, she started feeling that there was something strange with it after she found out that her voice had turned hoarse.

"At the end of July I went for a routine checkup, before starting to design this tour and my doctor confirmed that my vocal cords were in perfect condition," she wrote. "Towards the end of October though, in the home stretch of my rehearsals, I felt a strange hoarseness that impeded my singing. The doctors, upon examination, detected that I had suffered a hemorrhage on my right vocal cord."

"I then went on vocal rest as recommended by the specialist in an attempt to recover in time for my first show in Cologne," she further explained. "Unfortunately, the hemorrhage doesn't appear to have reabsorbed and my nightmare continues. At the moment I find myself in a difficult battle as I try to fully recover."

Shakira then announced that she had to focus on her recovery. "In all the years I've been singing, I've never been face with a situation like this," the mother of two added. "As such, and with a heavy heart, I must announce that I find myself obliged to postpone my European tour until 2018, to allow my body several necessary weeks, dedicated to my complete recovery."

The "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker concluded her message by saying that she wanted to return to the stage as soon as possible. "I hope to overcome this difficult trial and return to the stage as soon as possible, to once again hear your voice singing along with mine," she said. "I love all of you very much and I will always remember those who have been by my side during this time, offering their friendship and affection."

Shakira was supposed to kick off her tour on Wednesday, November 8 in Germany. However, due to her illness, she had to cancel the opening show. It is still unknown when she will begin hitting the road.
