AceShowbiz - LFO's Devin Lima has been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer, a week after undergoing surgery to remove a massive tumor on his adrenal gland. A biopsy reveals the rare cancer and the singer will undergo chemotherapy and radiation as part of his treatment plan.
It's Lima's bandmate Brad Fischetti who broke the news in a YouTube video released on Monday, October 30. "Devin asked me to give you this update without him because, frankly, he's not feeling very well," Fischetti said. "But, he asked me to send you his love and gratitude for all the love and prayers you've sent his way."
He added of Lima, "He's had a tough recovery. He had a few really difficult days in the hospital, but thankfully, he's home now, resting and healing."
"I wish we had better news to share," Fischetti continued to give an update on his pal's condition. "It's devastating news, but at the same time, there's nobody I know stronger than Devin Lima. No one has a stronger body, mind or soul. If anybody can defeat this, it's Devin. I know with your prayers and your thoughts and your positive energy coming down his way, there's no doubt that he will beat it."
LFO's publicist Alaina Bendi said in a statement, "Our whole LFO team is distraught over this and we want nothing more than to see Devin back on stage doing what he does best but, unfortunately, LFO is at the bottom of the list of things that Devin needs to accomplish to get back to normalcy in his life."
"Brad has been by his side since day 1 when Devin fell ill so, LFO will always be together," the statement continued. "Devin is so overwhelmed by the amount of love and prayers from around the world and thanks each and every one of you for your thoughts. He is home now with his family resting comfortably while he awaits his upcoming treatment plans."
LFO, known for their 1999 hit "Summer Girls", had been preparing to announce a spring tour date, but had to change those plans following Lima's surgery and his latest health condition. They recently returned with a new single, "Perfect 10". Another member of the band, Rich Cronin, died of leukemia in 2010.
