AceShowbiz - CBS Films has released the first teaser trailer for Helen Mirren's "Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built". In the upcoming supernatural horror film, the Academy Award-winning actress stars as Sarah Winchester, who is adamant she is cursed and begins building the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, upon advisement from a medium.

The creepy teaser shows that the lavish home owned by Sarah, whose husband William and their child died suddenly, is seemingly plagued by the spirits of those killed by the Winchester repeating rifle. The nearly-2-minute video also offers glimpses of Jason Clarke's character, Doctor Eric Price, who only believes in science at first.

"Do you believe in ghosts, doctor?" asks the grieving widow. "I do not believe in anything I can not see or study," he responds. But he is later seen starting to experience some disturbing phenomenon as Sarah says in voiceover, "I can feel it. In the air, in the wall. This spirit has a power we've not seen before. He has found us."

"Winchester" is inspired by true events. On an isolated stretch of land 50 miles outside of San Francisco sits the most haunted house in the world. Built by Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester fortune, it is a house that knows no end. Constructed in an incessant twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week mania for decades, it stands seven stories tall and contains hundreds of rooms.

To the outsider it looks like a monstrous monument to a disturbed woman's madness. But Sarah is not building for herself, for her niece (Sarah Snook) or for the brilliant Doctor Eric Price whom she has summoned to the house. She is building a prison, an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts, and the most terrifying among them have a score to settle with the Winchesters.

Written and directed by the Spierig brothers, the supernatural horror film is due out in the U.S. on February 2 next year. It also stars Tyler Coppin as Arthur Gates, Laura Brent as Ruby and Angus Sampson in an undisclosed role.
