Netflix and Marvel say in a joint statement that they 'have decided it wouldn't be appropriate for Marvel's 'The Punisher' to participate in New York Comic Con.'

AceShowbiz - Netflix and Marvel have decided to pull "The Punisher" from New York Comic-Con after the mass shooting in Las Vegas which killed 59 and injured more than 500. The upcoming series was initially scheduled to present a panel on Saturday, October 7.

"We are stunned and saddened by this week's senseless act in Las Vegas," Netflix and Marvel said in a joint statement. "After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn't be appropriate for Marvel's 'The Punisher' to participate in New York Comic Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy."

"The Punisher" is not the only show which undergoes swift in response to the shocking tragedy, which happened on Sunday night at an outdoor country music festival. USA Network's "Shooter" moved its season 2 premiere date twice from its original plan. Meanwhile, on the film department, "Marshall" and "Blade Runner 2049" cancelled their red carpet events in the wake of the massacre.

"The Punisher" follows Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a combat veteran who seeks revenge for his family, who is killed in a organized-crime shootout. As Castle's adventures are known to feature a good amount of gun violence, the upcoming spin-off of "Daredevil" seemingly will be one of Marvel's violent entries.

In a previously-released trailer for the series, the titular character unmercifully went on killing rampage. "They killed my family to get to me," he said. "I was a part of a covert CIA operation. The main charge wants me dead. Homeland, the FBI, everybody's a part of this. I'm going to kill them all."

Netflix hasn't announced the release date for "The Punisher". However, the series is expected to arrive sometime next year.

"The Punisher" stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah and Michael Nathanson. They are joined by Jaime Ray Newman, Jason R Moore, Daniel Webber and Paul Schulze.

Showrunner Steve Lightfoot executive produces alongside Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb. Marvel Television produces the series in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
