'Riverdale' Season 2 Will Debut Betty's Long-Lost Brother

The teen series is currently casting the role of Chic Cooper, Alice's first child whom she gave up for adoption back when she was in high school.

AceShowbiz - Cooper family will not only welcome Polly's twin babies in the upcoming second season of The CW's "Riverdale", but also the eldest of the Cooper children. Betty's long-lost brother named Chic is poised to make his debut midway through the new season, TVLine reports.

The site further suggests that the teen drama, which is based on Archie Comics, is currently casting the role of Chic Cooper. Back in season 1 finale, Betty learned that her mother Alice got pregnant with her first child in high school and she gave the baby son up for adoption.

The character will be a recurring guest star in the sophomore season. However, what brings Chic to Riverdale and what he wants from his biological family remain a mystery, at least for now. When asked about the matter, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa only said that he "wouldn't be surprised."

In the comics, Chic is depicted as someone with strawberry blonde hair. Debuted in "Little Archie" in 1960s as a teenager, the character mainly shows up when the young teens need an adult chauffeur. This probably will not work on the TV series though, since Archie and his friends are much older.

The most interesting part from Chic is that he is a secret agent working for the goverment. Will we see him being a secret agent on the show? It remains to be seen. But one thing that is safe to assume is that his appearance will cause more drama in Betty's life. Her boyfriend Jughead is now attending rival Southside High, and not to mention that Betty is still somewhat struggling with her Dark Betty alter-ego.

The new season is poised to be stronger than before. EP Greg Berlanti previously shared that "the first three episodes of this [new season] are the strongest of a second season I've been a part of." He went on teasing, "It's got an incredible new mystery and a new hook, and I think it's got more of everything that people love about the show."

"Riverdale" season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 11 at 8 P.M. on The CW.
