The pickup comes after the 'Big Bang Theory' spin-off had a stellar debut, receiving a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 with 17.2 million viewers.

AceShowbiz - In the wake of huge premiere of "Young Sheldon", CBS has given a full-season pickup to "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off. The pickup further extends the show's initial 13-episode order to 22 episodes.

Despite the high rating, "Young Sheldon" premiered to mixed reviews from critics. But it seems like it doesn't slow down "Young Sheldon" as the network shows its full confidence by giving the full-season pickup.

The full-season order makes the single-camera comedy the first new series of the 2017-2018 season to receive a full-season pickup. It comes as no surprise though, considering the fact that "Young Sheldon" pulled in 98|percent| of its total lead-in audience from its flagship show, "The Big Bang Theory".

Debuted on Monday, September 25, the prequel series drew a 3.8 Nielsen live-plus-same day rating in the 18-49 demo. In addition, the show brought in 17.2 million viewers, making "Young Sheldon" the highest rated broadcast comedy premiere since the 2011 debut of CBS' "2 Broke Girls".

"Young Sheldon" follows 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), a very gifted yet peculiar child, who is living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Zoe Perry stars as Mary Cooper, Sheldon's God-fearing mother.

The cast also includes Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan who will play Sheldon's father and siblings respectively. Annie Pots also stars as Constance a.k.a. Meemaw, young Sheldon's (Iain) foul-mouthed, hard-drinking Texas grandmother. She is Sheldon's favorite family member as she is very supportive of him and his unique gifts.

Jon Favreau ("The Jungle Book") directs the first episode of the half-hour series, with Jim Parsons narrating. The comedy is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, who create the series, are executive producing alongside Parsons and Todd Spiewak.

"Young Sheldon" moves to its regular nights on Thursdays, beginning on November 2 at 8.30 P.M.
