'Godzilla 2' Helmer Shares Final Set Photo as Filming Wraps
Movie

Director Mike Dougherty took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that filming on the follow-up to the 2014 monster movie just wrapped up.

AceShowbiz - Filming on "Godzilla" sequel has wrapped up. To mark the last day of filming, director Mike Dougherty took to his Twitter account on Tuesday, September 26 to share a new photo from the Georgia, Atlanta set.

"Last day," so the helmer simply wrote along with the snap that didn't reveal much about the sequel titled "Godzilla: King of Monsters". The pic showed what appeared to be the making process of the titular, CGI-made beast. There were also a "Monarch" mug and a spooky Halloween pumpkin featured in the snap.

Dougherty previously took to the micro-blogging site to share a set photo that offered fans the first look at the massive creature. It showed what looked like the cockpit of a plane with a projection of the titular creature on a screen behind it. Judging from its sturdy build and visible lack of neck, it seemed like the titular beast's wearing some kind of armor.

Dougherty was directing the follow-up to the 2014 monster movie from a script he co-wrote with Zach Shields and Max Borenstein. It's being produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Brian Rogers and Thomas Tull, with Shields, Barry H. Waldman, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira serving as executive producers and Alexandra Mendes co-producing for Legendary.

Set for a March 22, 2019 release in the United States, the upcoming sci-fi, action flick reportedly has a family, played by Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown, at its core. The supporting cast members include Zhang Ziyi, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sally Hawkins, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance, Aisha Hinds, Thomas Middleditch and Elizabeth Ludlow.

It centers on the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species - thought to be mere myths - rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.
