Han Solo Movie Adds 'Avengers: Infinity War' Actor Paul Bettany

The actor who plays The Vision in Marvel Cinematic Universe is the latest addition to the Star Wars spin-off directed by Ron Howard.

AceShowbiz - Paul Bettany is the latest addition to the upcoming "Star Wars" spin-off that is going to revolve around a young Han Solo. The casting was announced by director Ron Howard on Twitter during Force Friday, September 1.

He posted a picture of himself with the actor on the set. "The Outer Rim just got a little bit wilder #PaulBettany #ForceFriday," he wrote in the caption. "It's my third opportunity to work with Paul. He's a blast & so talented."

The duo first worked together in 2001's movie "A Beautiful Mind". Starring Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly and Josh Lucas, it won four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.

Paul Bettany was last seen in "Captain America: Civil War" last year. He will reprise his role as Marvel's superhero The Vision in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War". His other new movies include "Journey's End" which also stars Asa Butterfield, Sam Claflin and Tom Sturridge.

The Han Solo movie is due May 25, 2018 stateside. Alden Ehrenreich will play the lead character and Donald Glover portrays Lando Calrissian. They are joined by Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Woody Harrelson among others.

The movie will be the second spin-off in the ever-expanding "Star Wars" universe. The first one, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", that revolved around a group of rebel warriors led by Felicity Jones's Jyn Erso was released in 2016. Another standalone movie is expected to follow in 2020.

After a decade, "Star Wars" movie series was resurrected in 2015 with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" that introduced a new generation of heroes like Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) as well as villain Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Their story will continue in a new movie called "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" which is set to come out on December 15. A threequel, "Star Wars Episode IX", is planned for May 24, 2019.
