'Sorry Dad…. I'll be good tonight I promise … @vmas,' the 'Younger Now' singer wrote on Twitter alongside a hilarious throwback photo of her infamous 'Blurred Lines' performance.

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus is serious with her commitment to throw away her image during her infamous twerking days. Ahead of the 2017 MTV VMAs, the "Malibu" songstress took to her Instagram account to apologize to her dad Billy Ray Cyrus over her scandalous "Blurred Lines" performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs.

She posted a throwback photo of her twerking on Robin Thicke. On top of that, she hilariously edited her dad's face on the image, looking at her so disapprovingly. "Sorry Dad…. I'll be good tonight I promise … @vmas," wrote the 24-year-old beauty.

Back in 2013, the 20-year-old Miley dropped jaws and sent fans into a frenzy with her "Blurred Lines" performance with Robin. Donning a barely-there ensemble, she went wild on the stage as she grabbed her crotch and twerked on the R&B singer while sticking out her tongue.

"How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? … Madonna's done it. Britney's [Britney Spears] done it," Miley previously said of the performance. "Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."

At this year's event, however, don't expect some twerking from Miley. Coming back with a whole new image, the "Wrecking Ball" singer performed her latest songs "Younger Now" and "Malibu", which was said to be a special honor to boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

"Everyone who saw her rehearsal got emotional and some even got teary-eyed," said a source. "This is a new and evolved Miley. Her energy was so different on stage, and there's a new side to her that people will be surprised to see."

At this year's MTV VMAs, Miley was nominated for Best Pop for her song "Malibu". However, she had to let Fifth Harmony bring home the trophy as they won the category with "Down", their collaborative track with Gucci Mane.
