AceShowbiz - It's an epic "Supergirl" / "Riverdale" crossover you never knew you would get! The worlds of the two CW series collided in a behind-the-scenes photo shared by "Riverdale" showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa on Twitter on Thursday, August 24.

The image showed a screen which captured the moment Melissa Benoist dropped by the set of the Archie comics adaptation. Wearing full Supergirl costume, she's seen hanging out with Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) at Pop's.

Aguirre-Sacasa further teased fans with the caption as he wrote, "Look who dropped in to #Riverdale for a visit! Worlds colliding!! Can a crossover be far behind??"

Nothing has been confirmed about a possible "Supergirl" / "Riverdale" crossover so far. But this isn't the first time Benoist was spotted with "Riverdale" stars. Back in September 2016, the Supergirl depicter posed with K.J. Apa (Archie) and Cole Sprouse (Jughead).

Both shows are filmed in Vancouver on stages right next to one another, which makes it easy for Benoist to visit the set of "Riverdale" in between takes of her own superhero series. Supergirl has so far teamed up with DC Comic heroes whose shows air on The CW, including "Arrow", "The Flash" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow".

"Riverdale" season 2 premieres Wednesday, October 11 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW. Camila Mendes said of how the events in season 1 finale would affect Archie, "I like that there'll be a new darkness to Archie. I think it's going to add a lot of edge to his character and some depth."

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously also explained, "The impulse, the journey is going to be dark, like Batman. It is going to be driven by revenge and violence begetting violence, and payback. And then hopefully at some point, it will turn toward the light and being a real hero, being driven by more altruistic reasons and honoring the man that Fred raised. Archie was raised by Fred, he was raised by a good guy, and I think that will ultimately come true, but I think it's going to get worse before it gets better."

As for "Supergirl", it is set to kick off its third season Monday, October 9 at 8 P.M.
