The former hip-hop mogul was indicted on a charge of threatening the life of director F. Gary Gray and has entered a not-guilty plea.

AceShowbiz - Suge Knight is pleading not guilty to a charge of making death threats against "Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray. The Death Row Records co-founder, whose real name is Marion Hugh Knight Jr., was in court on Thursday morning, August 3 in Downtown L.A. with his lawyer Mathew Fletcher to enter the plea.

The L.A. County Grand Jury indicted Suge for criminal threats he allegedly made to Gray in August 2014 during the filming of the N.W.A. biopic. The indictment claims that Knight "did willfully and unlawfully threaten to commit a crime which would result in death and great bodily injury to Felix Gary Gray, with the specific intent that the statement be taken as a threat."

It is alleged that Gray "was reasonably in sustained fear of his safety and the safety of his immediate family" as the result of the threat. Knight and Gray had been arguing about whether Knight deserved a fee because he was being portrayed in the movie.

The defense attorney, however, sad that "there is certainly no evidence he sent any texts threatening him." Outside the courtroom, Fletcher read what he said were the only texts he's seen between Knight and Gray. One of them read, "You have family, I have family, God bless you."

Fletcher also said in court that Knight's phone had been blocked and he couldn't communicate with his attorneys. Fletcher wanted visitations to include calls to his attorney's office.

Knight is currently awaiting trial for the murder of Terry Carter and the attempted murder of Cle "Bone" Sloan, stemming from an incident in January 2015 when Knight and the two men got into an argument in a parking lot in Compton. The former hip-hop mogul was accused of unintentionally running over the two men, resulting in the death of Carter. Knight pleaded not guilty to both charges.
