When appearing on 'Evening Urgant', the CBS late-night talk show host says, 'I am here to announce that I am considering a run for president in 2020.'

AceShowbiz - Stephen Colbert, who has been in Russia on assignment for a future broadcast on his CBS late-night talk show, appeared on Russian TV. The comedian had a sit-down with Ivan Urgant on "Evening Urgant" on Friday, June 23, during which he announced that he's considering running for president in 2020.
Colbert and Urgant played a Russian roulette-style drinking game with multiple vodka shots. Before taking his first shot of vodka, he said, "To the beautiful and friendly Russian people. I don't understand why no members of the Trump administration can remember meeting you."
Urgant toasted right back, "I would like to raise a glass for the beautiful country, United States of America, which invented the Internet, thanks to which we can influence the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections."
Colbert then said to Urgant, "Can I announce something? I'm here in Russia..." He stopped and asked again, "This is not shown in the United States?" After Urgant assured him it's airing at Donald Trump's place, Colbert continued, "OK. I am here to announce that I am considering a run for president in 2020, and I thought it would be better to cut out the middle man and just tell the Russians myself."
He added, "If anyone would like to work on my campaign, in an unofficial capacity, please just let me know."
Urgant responded, "It's a pleasure to drink with the future U.S. President. To you, Stephen. I wish you luck. We will do everything we can so you become president."
One day earlier, Colbert tweeted a photo of him in Russia after President Trump claimed he did not have any recording of his conversation with former FBI director James Comey, despite previously stating otherwise. Colbert wrote, "Don't worry, Mr. President. I'm in Russia. If the 'tapes' exist, I'll bring you back a copy!"

If Colbert did mean what he said, it won't be the first time that he plans to run for the White House. In October 2007, he announced his candidacy following public pressure. He even paid the $2,500 fee necessary to be included on the Democratic ballot in South Carolina, but his request was denied. He dropped his bid on November 5, 2007.
