In the upcoming biographical drama, the 'Black Panther' star portrays Thurgood Marshall, a slave's great-grandson who became the first African-American to use law to lead the Rights Revolution.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for Thurgood Marshall biopic "Marshall" has arrived online, featuring Chadwick Boseman as the man whose great-grandfather was a slave in the U.S. Marshall is known as the first African-American to use law to lead the Rights Revolution.

The trailer gives a glimpse of how Marshall tirelessly pursues justice. The estimated two-and-a-half minute video begins with a fight between Marshall and a group of bad guys, showcasing the early days of his life as a lawyer. He says in voiceover, "If you want freedom, you are going to have to fight for it."

"I only represent innocent people, people accused because of their race. That is my mission," Marshall tells Joseph Spell, portrayed by Sterling K. Brown, who sits behind bars. As the gritty trailer closes on a scene in which he takes a nip from a flask by a "Whites Only" water fountain, Marshall says, "The only way to get through a bigot's door is to break it down."

Directed by Reginald Hudlin ("Serving Sara", "Boomerang"), "Marshall" is set to hit U.S. theaters on October 13. "Long before he sat on the United States Supreme Court or claimed victory in Brown v. Board of Education, Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) was a young rabble-rousing attorney for the NAACP," the synopsis reads.

"The new motion picture, 'MARSHALL', is the true story of his greatest challenge in those early days - a fight he fought alongside attorney Sam Friedman (Josh Gad), a young lawyer with no experience in criminal law: the case of black chauffeur Joseph Spell (Sterling K. Brown), accused by his white employer, Eleanor Strubing (Kate Hudson), of sexual assault and attempted murder."
