CBS Sets September Premiere Date for 'Star Trek: Discovery'

The CBS sci-fi series will be split into two parts, with the first eight episodes running from September 24 through November 5 before resuming in January 2018.

AceShowbiz - The discovery will begin soon as CBS has unveiled the premiere date of its upcoming "Star Trek: Discovery". The highly-anticipated series is set to debut through a special broadcast premiere on Sunday, September 24 at 8.30 P.M. on the network, before moving to its home on CBS All Access.

CBS also announces that the 15-episode first season of the sci-fi series will be split into two chapters. The first eight episodes will air between September 24 to November 5, while the rest episodes will continue in January 2018 after a break.

Plot detail is kept under wraps, but "Star Trek: Discovery" will take place prior to the original "Star Trek" television series. Featuring all-new characters, Starfleet ships and adventures, the series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Rainn Wilson, James Frain and Jason Isaacs.

"Star Trek: Discovery" is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller's Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Kurtzman and Fuller executive produce alongside Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
