Charlie Heaton is in negotiations to play Sam Guthrie in the upcoming 'X-Men' Spin-off which will be directed by Josh Boone.

AceShowbiz - "X-Men: The New Mutants" is zeroing in on Charlie Heaton to play Sam Guthrie or Cannonball. The Hollywood Reporter learns that the actor known for his role as Jonathan Bryers on Netflix's hit show "Stranger Things" is in talks for the coveted role previously linked to Nat Wolff.
Envisioned as a horror movie, the "X-Men" spin-off has already announced Anya Taylor-Joy ("Split") and Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") to portray Magik and Wolfsbane respectively. "The Fault in Our Stars" helmer Josh Boone is set to serve behind the lens.
The movie is scheduled for April 13, 2018 in United States. Blu Hunt ("The Originals") and True O'Brien ("Days of Our Lives") are reportedly among the contenders to play Danni Moonstar a.k.a. Mirage while Rosario Dawson is in negotiations to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
