The 4 members of the group decide to pursue careers as solo artists after being together for seven years, but assure fans that they will remain good friends.

AceShowbiz - SISTAR has officially disbanded after seven years. The group's agency, Starship Entertainment, confirmed the news on Tuesday, May 23. All four members, Hyorin, Bora, Soyou and Dasom, are currently discussing whether they will renew their contracts individually.

"SISTAR will officially end their 7-year promotions as a group with their last album on May 31st. Please support and cheer the SISTAR members who will be starting a new life."

Starship also released handwritten letters by the four members. Hyorin wrote, "Hello, this is SISTAR's leader Hyorin. It's already been seven years since SISTAR debuted. The time I have spent with my fellow members and Star1 [SISTAR's official fandom name] as SISTAR's Hyorin have been was priceless. We will now be going our separate ways to start a new chapter in our lives. I love my fellow members and Star1 and you will forever be in my heart. I want to thank you with all my heart. I love you."

Bora told fans to be happy although their disbandment may be hard to accept. "It's SISTAR's Bora. The times I've spent with the other members of SISTAR and Star1 have been so precious and happy," she wrote. "We've decided to support each other despite going separate ways. However, this won't be the last time you see us, and I will work hard to be the best Yoon Bora. To our Star1, who have loved SISTAR and have loved Bora, thank you for always being by our side. I was happy. Let's keep being happy. I love you."

Like Bora, Soyou also told fans not to be sad. "It's already been seven years. I felt especially happy during happy times and less sad during difficult times because I had my members and fans by my side," she began, before adding, "Looking back, I feel bad and regretful because I feel like I never did enough. No matter what I do in the future, I will never forget my love for the members and fans. I love you... I'm sorry... and thank you. I'll be back with good music. Until the very end, let's all remember to be happy."

Lastly, Dasom expressed her gratitude toward fans and asked them to keep supporting all members. "It's been seven years since we debuted under the name SISTAR. I want to thank you for supporting and loving us throughout all these years," she wrote. "We have made the tough decision to end our activities as SISTAR with this upcoming album and go separate ways. We hope to continue to repay our fans for the overflowing love you have given us as SISTAR through our individual activities. We will work harder to connect with you more. Please support us. Thank you."

SISTAR debuted in June 2010 with "Push Push". The group quickly rose to fame due to their powerful songs and talent. SISTAR continued to release hits like "How Dare You", "Alone", "Shake It" and "I Like That".
