The 28-year-old singer explains that he can't keep up with the fast pace of the group and hopes that fans will keep supporting him despite him going solo.

AceShowbiz - Pentatonix has lost one of its founding members, Avi Kaplan. The bass vocalist announced his departure from the a capella group on Friday, May 12 through an emotional Facebook video. In the clip, he is accompanied by his fellow bandmates: Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola and Kirstin Maldonado. They sit on a bench, looking gloomy while Avi tells fans about his decision to leave the group.

Holding back his tears, Avi expresses his gratefulness for being a part of the group for the past six years. "All of the things that we've accomplished, all the music that we've made and the people that we've touched with that music-- it far surpasses anything that I could have ever dreamed for my life," he says.

He also opens up about the reason behind his departure. He claims that Pentatonix has a very fast pace, so he only has a little time with his family and friends. "Throughout my journey with PTX, this pace has always been a struggle for me. It's been hard for me not to be with my family and friends when I need them or when they need me. It's been hard to not be able to escape into nature when I'm feeling overwhelmed or just need some time to myself," he explains.

However, Avi's departure from PTX doesn't mean that he leaves music. He is still doing music and hopes that fans will support him. He says, "I do want you to know that I'm still going to be doing music and I'm going to be doing it with my whole heart. I will ALWAYS do my best to lift others up with my voice. I hope that you'll all support my decision and that you can understand where I'm coming from. And regardless of anything, I just want to thank you for all that you've given to me."
