The fitness icon is currently in hospital due to severe indigestion, but his rep says, 'He's already feeling better.'

AceShowbiz - Richard Simmons was admitted to hospital on April 17 due to severe indigestion. The fitness icon, who has been "missing" since 2014, was reported to be dealing with several health issues. This time, Simmons suffered from another illness, making people wonder whether he'll be able to get better.

"Richard Simmons was hospitalized on Monday at an undisclosed location in California," his rep, Michael Catalano, told ABC News. "After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment."

"He's already feeling better and is expected to make a full recovery," Catalano added. Earlier this month, he informed that the fitness guru had signed a business deal for "merchandising, endorsements and licensing opportunities."

Simmons' whereabouts have attracted attention since a podcast titled "Finding Richard Simmons" became viral. His former therapist Mauro Oliveira claimed that Simmons was being held hostage by his housekeeper Teresa Reveles. However, his rep said in a statement, "Teresa is the housekeeper, she's the caretaker, she is extraordinary, she is amazing, she takes impeccable care of Richard and she has for as long as I have been working with Richard."

LAPD responded to the allegations and conducted a welfare check on Simmons. The police later said that he was "perfectly fine and happy," dismissing all rumors. "None of it is true. The fact of the matter is we went out and talked to him he is fine, nobody is holding him hostage. He is doing exactly what he wants to do. If he wants to go out in public or see anybody he will do that," Detective Kevin Becker told PEOPLE last March. "He is perfectly fine and he is very happy. I don't know what he is going to do, but right now he is doing what he wants to do and it is his business."
