Adam DeVine to Host First MTV Movie and TV Awards

The 'Pitch Perfect' star has been tapped to host the very first MTV Movie and TV Awards which is slated to air live on Sunday, May 7 on the network.

AceShowbiz - Adam DeVine is set to host 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which will air live from L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, May 7 at 8 P.M. After more than two decades celebrating movies, the network is now expanding the awards to include TV shows.

MTV took to Twitter to share the first promo for the annual awards, featuring Adam driving a popcorn food truck. A group of people are seen running after the truck, cannot wait to taste the popcorn. "Hey guys, I'm Adam DeVine and I'm hosting the biggest party of the year, the MTV Movie & TV Awards!" Adam shouts excitedly to the crowd.

Besides including TV shows for the first time since 1992, several new things will be offered on the upcoming show. On the day of the show, MTV will present the show with live musical acts, special guests and food. Festival attendees will also be given a front-row look at celebrities walking on the red carpet.

Nominations will be revealed on Thursday, April 6 at 12 P.M., while performers and presenters will be announced at a later date. Casey Patterson, who hosted the last year show, will serve as executive producer, working alongside MTV's Garrett English.

Adam recently wrapped comedy series "Workaholics", which he co-created and starred on, after seven seasons. The "Pitch Perfect" actor also starred in R-rated comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates", starring opposite Zac Efron. Adam's upcoming flicks include "Magic Camp" and Netflix's "When We First Met".
