AceShowbiz - %cSusan Sarandon% decided to reveal the truth behind rumor of her feud with %cJulia Roberts% that was first spread back in 1998. It seems like she had wanted to clear up the rumor since a long time ago, and found a chance after starring on FX's "Feud", which is based on the real behind-the-scenes feud between %cBette Davis% and %cJoan Crawford% on the set of 1962's "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?".
After a new episode of the show that aired on April 3, Sarandon took to Twitter to say that the rumor was started by her own publicist. "Press printed that Julia and I hated each other during Stepmom. Found out it was my PR person creating rumors. #FeudFX," she tweeted. Besides her shocking reveal, she included a link to a 1998 article from Entertainment Weekly, in which both Sarandon and Roberts tried to dismiss the rumor.

The rumor first began after Sarandon and Roberts starred in %cChris Columbus%' movie "Stepmom", in which the two women were rivals. Sarandon portrayed a divorced mother, Jackie Harrison, who had to accept her ex-husband's soon-to-be second wife, Isabel Kelly, portrayed by Roberts.
Despite playing rivals, the two actresses had actually tried to clarify that they liked each other. "If you make a movie with a male star," Sarandon said in the article, "Everyone assumes you're f-ing. If it's a female star, everyone assumes you're fighting." The statement was a bit implicit, but it could be seen that she thought the rumor was ridiculous.
Roberts expressed her feelings about her co-star in the interview in a more explicit way. "There's got to be something new," she said. "It can still be a total lie, because, you know, nobody wants the truth. I understand that. I've accepted it. But a better lie? Please?! This is such a yawn."
"Actually, Susan and I were kinda hoping that people would say we were f-ing. Now that's delicious cocktail-party fodder. But this? Boring," she added, declaring love for Sarandon in a witty way.
Until this day, Sarandon is still getting questions about whether she's fighting with her co-stars. That was probably what triggered her to bring up her old "flame" with Roberts.
The #1 question I get in interviews is whether Jessica & I get along. Jess & I not only got along great during filming, we’re now dating

"The #1 question I get in interviews is whether Jessica and I get along. Jess and I not only got along great during filming, we're now dating," she jokingly stated, clarifying all the rumors between her and %cJessica Lange%, her co-star on "Feud".
Although the truth may be boring for some people, we can still definitely enjoy Sarandon's on-screen feud with Lange on the show.
"Feud" airs Sunday nights at 10 P.M. on FX.
