CBS Renews 16 Series for 2017-2018 Season - Find Out Which Show Makes the Cut

Among the network's early renewals are five first-year shows and eleven returning series, while several favorites are left on bubble.

AceShowbiz - In addition to "The Big Bang Theory" and "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service", CBS has renewed 16 other shows for a 2017-2018 season. The network has handed out renewals to five freshman shows and eleven veteran shows, which include "Mom" and "NCIS: Los Angeles".

Among the new shows which get picked up for sophomore seasons are "Bull", "Kevin Can Wait", "MacGyver", "Man with a Plan" and "Superior Donuts". "Bull", starring %cMichael Weatherly%, has managed to pull more than 14 million viewers, averaging a 2.1 rating despite having a strong contender such as NBC's "This Is Us". Meanwhile, %cKevin James% will continue his voyage with "Kevin Can Wait" which tops CBS' new comedy ranking.

Also returning for a new season are veteran shows "Blue Bloods", "Hawaii Five-0", "Life in Pieces", "Madam Secretary", "Mom" and "NCIS: Los Angeles". CBS also hands out early renewals for other returning series, including "NCIS: New Orleans", "Scorpion", "Survivor", and newsmagazines "48 Hours" and "60 Minutes".

Some shows such as "Elementary", "Criminal Minds" and "The Amazing Race" are notably missing from the list. Also left on bubble are comedy "2 Broke Girls", "The Odd Couple", "Code Black", "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" and "The Great Indoors".

Meanwhile, CBS previously yanked off "Doubt", starring %cKatherine Heigl% and %cLaverne Cox%, from its schedule after airing two episodes. Medical drama "Pure Genius" is unlikely to return since its episode count is trimmed down. Following the death of cast member %cBill Paxton%, "Training Day" is also not expected to score a renewal.

However, fans may hear words for the undecided shows anytime soon. In a press release, CBS said additional returning series pick-ups would be announced later.
