'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' from Sherman-Palladino is one of Amazon's projects that subscribers will be able to vote on to determine which ones will get series orders.

AceShowbiz - Amazon has announced five new pilots as part of its Spring 2017 pilot season that will debut on Amazon Video on March 17 in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria and Japan. One of them is "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", Amy Sherman-Palladino's follow-up project to Netflix's "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life".

Set in 1958 Manhattan, the drama follows a New York City woman, Miriam "Midge" Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), who goes from uptown housewife to stand-up comic in Greenwich Village. Tony Shalhoub will play her father, while Michael Zegen will play her husband.

A second drama offered by the streaming service is "Oasis" starring "Game of Thrones" alum Richard Madden as a chaplain who is sent into space to help establish a colony on a distant planet. What he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test, but life as we know it. From Matt Charman ("Bridge of Spies"), the one-hour drama also stars Haley Joel Osment and Anil Kapoor among others.

The other three pilots are comedies. "The Legend of Master Legend" is described as a dark comedy about the life of Frank Lafount, aka Master Legend - a homemade superhero whose mission is to protect the people of Las Vegas from evil doers. Master Legend juggles the demands of justice with the even more complicated demands of his real family, who don't see him as a hero at all. It hails from "Transparent" writers Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, with John Hawkes, Dawnn Lewis, Shea Whigham and newcomer Anjelika Washington in the cast.

"Budding Prospects" is about 1980s marijuana growers who move from San Francisco to Mendocino. Their expectations of the nurturing and rustic experience run up against the harsh truth prior to their arrival at "The Summer Camp" - a miserably run-down shanty out in the middle of nowhere complete with rats, snakes, noisy neighbors, dangerous locals and menacing law enforcement. Adam Rose, Joel David Moore, Will Sasso and Brett Gelman are starring.

Last, but not least is "The New V.I.P.'s", Amazon's first half-hour animated comedy which follows a group of low-level employees who seize control of a major corporation after accidentally murdering their boss. Matt Braunger, Ben Schwartz, Missi Pyle and Jonathan Adams voice the characters in the pilot, which hails from Steve Dildarian.

As usual, Amazon will let subscribers vote on which pilot they like. The feedback will be taken into account to determine which pilots will get series orders.
