Stephen Moyer shifts from a drama about vampires to one which revolves around mutants, as the actor reportedly will take the lead role on 'X-Men'-related TV series on FOX.

AceShowbiz - FOX seems to slowly round out the cast of its "X-Men"-related series pilot as a new actor has been added to the cast. "True Blood" alum Stephen Moyer reportedly will take the lead role, a character named Reed.

Reed is described as an "ambitious attorney" who tries to put balance between the demands of his job at the DA's office and his responsibilities to his family. Based on the character description, Moyer seemingly will play a non-mutant character. Instead, he will play the father of mutant children as the pilot reportedly revolves around a family who discovers their children mutations. The family are forced to go on the run from a hostile government.

Moyer's TV credits besides "True Blood" is FX's period drama series "The Bastard Executioner". The actor recently wrapped up filming "The Parting Glass" which marks his directorial debut.

Moyer joins Jamie Chung and Blair Redford who are previously announced to play Blink and Sam respectively. Blink, known as Clarice Fong, is a mutant who is able to teleport almost everywhere and able to focus her abilities into spear-like forms. Meanwhile, Sam is reportedly a "strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network" which the main family comes to after finding out about their children mutations.

The pilot will be helmed by Bryan Singer, who has directed four of "X-Men" movies, including "X-Men (2000)", "X-Men 2", "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: Apocalypse". Meanwhile, the script will be written by Matt Nix. Nix and Singer will executive produce FOX's "X-Men" pilot with Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
