The cast of the Broadway musical shows their massive support for the Best Original Song nominee and makes him shed a tear on the red carpet with a surprise 'Moana' and 'Hamilton' mash-up cover.

AceShowbiz - The 2017 Academy Awards hadn't even officially started but Lin-Manuel Miranda already shed a tear on the red carpet. The "Hamilton" creator, who shows his support to ACLU by wearing blue ribbon, was moved to tears as he watched a surprise "Moana" mash-up cover by the current cast of "Hamilton".

While appearing with mother Luz Towns-Miranda on "Live From the Red Carpet" with Ryan Seacrest outside the Dolby Theater, Miranda, who is nominated for Best Original Song for "How Far I'll Go" from "Moana", got a special surprise from a few of familiar faces. "We have something very cool. Some friends of yours put together a little mash-up. I want to have you take a look at here," Seacrest said before playing the video.

His jaw dropped when he watched the heartwarming video from his friends singing "Moana" hit songs, including Oscar-nominated "How Far I'll go" and "You're Welcome", mashed up with the line "how lucky we are to be alive right now" from the Tony Award-winning musical's "The Schuyler Sisters". Schuyler sisters (Lexi Lawson, Mandy Gonzalez and Alysha Deslorieux) joined John Laurens (Jordan Fisher) in singing the song in the video. It didn't take much time for Miranda to get emotional over the video and eventually get a little misty-eyed.

"I hate you for making me cry before the Oscars hasn't even started," Miranda, who looked dapper in San Marko's tux, said after watching the video. He continued, "That was amazing. Thank You. Thank you for that. That's incredible."

Miranda will perform "How Far I'll Go" with "Moana" star Auli'i Cravalho later tonight. "How Far I'll Go" will fight against other contenders, including "Audition (The Fools who Dream)" and "City of Stars" from "La La Land", "Can't Stop the Feeling" from "Trolls" and "The Empty Chair" from "Jim: The James Foley Story", in the Music (Original Song) category. Should he bring home the trophy, Miranda will be the youngest member of the EGOT Club, a group of people who have won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award.

To see how far Miranda will go in the 89th Annual Academy Awards tonight, tune in on ABC to watch the ceremony. It currently is airing live with Jimmy Kimmel as the host.
