Mahershala won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 'Moonlight', while 'Suicide Squad' and 'Fantastic Beasts' won Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Costume Design respectively.

AceShowbiz - The 89th Academy Awards is currently held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. Mahershala Ali has been announced as the first winner at the award-giving event, taking home Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in "Moonlight". It marks his first Oscar trophy.
A joyful Mahershala took the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech as well as to thank his "teachers" and his family. "I want to thank my wife, who was in her third trimester during awards season. We just had our daughter 4 days ago," he said.

The show continued with the announcement for Best Makeup and Hairstyling as well as Best Costume Design. Alessandro Bertolazzi and Giorgio Gregorini shared the former award for their work in "Suicide Squad", while Colleen Atwood of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" took home the latter trophy.
The 2017 Academy Awards is still underway with many more awards to come. The ceremony is airing live on ABC.
