The 'Cry Me a River' hitmaker says his bigger love for music than his other bandmates' was the reason why he pursued a solo career.

AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake left NSYNC when they were still hugely popular in the early 2000s. But Justin never revealed the reason why he dropped out from the group until he addresses it in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I was growing out of it," Justin says in the February 17 issue, before adding, "I felt like I cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group. And I felt like I had other music I wanted to make and that I needed to follow my heart." The "Can't Stop the Feeling!" singer continues, "We were on a stadium tour, and I just felt like the whole thing was too big. It started out as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche."

NSYNC never disbanded. The group, which also consisted of Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, only went on hiatus when they were on the peak of their fame. But up until now, the group members never reunited.

But Justin's popularity even rocketed after leaving the group. He released his first solo album "Justified" which was very successful in 2002. He also made headlines for dating Britney Spears, touring with Christina Aguilera and hitting Super Bowl stage with Janet Jackson. Justin starred in many movies, including the hugely popular "The Social Network". He will reportedly star in Woody Allen's upcoming film. But will he allow his son Silas, whom he shares with Jessica Biel, to follow his path?

"If he wanted it bad enough, I suppose I could teach him a lot about what not to do," Justin shares. "You go through your life with your own traumas, big and small, and think, 'It's not that bad. I have a lot to be thankful for. My parents did the best they could.' But then you have a child of your own, and suddenly it opens all the floodgates, and you're like, 'No, no, no! That childhood trauma really did f**k me up!' "
