AceShowbiz - While people keep questioning about whether or not Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond, there have been a lot of rumors about possible replacements. Tom Hardy is among the top choices to replace Craig should Craig not return. In addition, Hardy seemingly is interested in playing the British agent, especially if the movie is directed by Christopher Nolan.
In a recent interview, when The Daily Beast tells Hardy that Nolan desires to direct James Bond movie, the actor responds, "Oh, wow, Chris would be amazing! Wow, that would be cool. That would be so cool." Hardy is later asked whether he wants to play Bond. He answers that he'd rather not comment, because he doesn't want to lose his chance to portray the 007 agent.
"You know, there's a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you're automatically out of the race," says Hardy. "So I can't possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it's gone."
However, the "Taboo" star doesn't hold back in praising Nolan. "I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that's a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound-again," he says.
Hardy is currently filming miniseries "Taboo" which he writes with his father Edward Hardy. The story is set in nineteenth century Britain, with Hardy playing vengeful adventurer James Delaney who is presumed dead and reappearing in London to avenge his father's death.
Meanwhile, viewers are still discussing possible actors to play James Bond if Daniel Craig doesn't return. Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jamie Bell, Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Aidan Turner are other names fans want to see as the iconic character.
