The new track produced by Danger Mouse has received positive reviews from critics after its release.

AceShowbiz - Iggy Pop debuts a new song from Matthew McConaughey's upcoming movie, "Gold (2016)". Also titled "Gold", the song is described as a "sinister-sounding ballad" which features Pop singing in a creepy low growl. The song channels the crime adventure theme of the movie as the lyrics go, "Hail to the thief, and you won't get left in line. Won't you hail to the thief, and we'll keep what's left in line."

"Gold" is a collaboration between Iggy Pop and producer Danger Mouse. Although the movie already received negative reviews even before its release, the soundtrack might save its reputation as it was nominated for Best Original Song at last week's Golden Globes.

Pop recently opened up about working with Danger Mouse for the soundtrack in an interview with Rolling Stone, expressing his admiration towards the producer as he said, "In the studio, he very assiduously and energetically directed the vocal, which is what I want when you're working with a producer." He added, "Phrasing, intonation, vowel pronunciation -a lot of stuff like that. Little by little, the thing kept getting better and more conversational and less sing-songy."

"Gold" is a movie based on true story about the Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal in 1997. Besides McConaughey, the movie also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Kebbell and Corey Stoll. Directed by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan, the movie will hit theaters across the nation on January 27, after being postponed from its original release date of December 25, 2016.
