The 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' scribe and the 'Contract Killers' writer will collaborate to write the script for Warner Bros. and DC's upcoming movie 'Green Lantern Corps'.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. and DC are moving forward with their plan to bring back Green Lantern to big screen with a new movie titled "Green Lantern Corps" following the critically panned and box office bomb "Green Lantern" (2011). David Goyer and Justin Rhodes have just been tapped to write the script. Goyer will also serve as producer, with DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg exec producing the movie.

Unlike the previous adaptation starring Ryan Reynolds which focused more on Hal Jordan, the upcoming movie is expected to focus on the Corps itself, the intergalactic police force formed to protect different sectors of the universe.

The story reportedly revolves around the relationship of Hal Jordan and John Stewart. John Stewart is an African-American sniper who joins the Corps. There's no word on whether Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Hal Jordan in the upcoming movie as the actor is now committed to Marvel's "Deadpool". The studio will start looking for director right away after they obtain the script.

David Goyer is not a new name when it comes to writing superhero movies. He has penned several DC superheroes movies, including "The Dark Knight" series and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". He will also write the script for a virtual reality project based on George Lucas' "Star Wars". Meanwhile, Rhodes has penned "Grassroots" and "Contract Killers". He is on board as writer for the upcoming "Fantastic Voyage" remake, wherein Goyer will serve as the exec producer.

"Green Lantern Corps" is currently scheduled for a July 24, 2020 U.S. release.
