'La La Land' and 'Deadpool' Among Nominees for Writers Guild Awards in Movie

'Manchester by the Sea', 'Moonlight', 'Arrival', 'Hidden Figures' and 'Nocturnal Animals' are also nominated for this year's WGAs.

AceShowbiz - The Writers Guild of America has just announced nominees for the upcoming annual Writers Guild Awards. Musical "La La Land" and comic book adaptation "Deadpool" are among the contenders ahead of the much-anticipated Academy Awards.

The movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is up for Original Screenplay. It is facing off the likes of "Hell or High Water", "Loving", "Manchester by the Sea" and "Moonlight". Meanwhile, the superhero flick led by Ryan Reynolds is vying for Adapted Screenplay along with such critic darlings as "Arrival", "Fences", "Hidden Figures" and "Nocturnal Animals".

The 69th annual Writers Guild Awards will be handed out Sunday, February 19, at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles. Besides feature films, the organization recognizes outstanding achievement in television previously announced in December.
