Ben Affleck Won't Direct 'The Batman' if It Is Not 'Really Great'

Despite his prior statement that he would direct the upcoming Batman movie, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' star recently says that 'it's not a set thing'.

AceShowbiz - Apparently fans have to lower the expectation that Ben Affleck will direct the upcoming "The Batman". In recent interview, Affleck says that he won't do it if the Caped Crusader's standalone movie "doesn't come together in a way I think is really great."

"That's the idea," he tells The Guardian. "But it's not a set thing and there's no script. If it doesn't come together in a way I think is really great I'm not going to do it."

Regarding his decision of to play the Caped Crusader, Affleck explains that he did it solely for his child. "Sam thinks his dad is Batman. That's an incredible feeling," says the father of three.

Affleck's recent statement is in contrast to what he said some time ago. Back in December, he told Variety that "The Batman" was on the good track. He even said that the script was in the works. "We're on the right track with that and everything is coming together," he stated. "We're still finishing up a script. I'm very excited."

While there's still a doubt whether Affleck will direct "The Batman" or not, his appearance in DC Extended Universe's "Justice League" has been confirmed. Affleck will reprise his role as Batman in the movie and Comic-Con footage has offered a look of him. "Justice League" will also feature other DC characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.

Affleck appeared in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" last March. While the movie received mostly negative reviews from critics, it has grossed $873,3 million worldwide.
