Alan Thicke, Robin Thicke's Dad, Passes Away at 69 After a Heart Attack

The actor, best known for his role on the '80s sitcom 'Growing Pains', was pronounced dead at a California hospital after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey on Tuesday.

AceShowbiz - Alan Thicke has passed away. The actor, who's best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on the '80s sitcom "Growing Pains" and being the dad to R&B singer Robin Thicke, died on Tuesday, December 13 at the age of 69.

TMZ, which first broke the sad news, said that Thicke suffered a heart attack while he was in the middle of playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter earlier on Tuesday. He was later rushed to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, California and was pronounced dead there.

Citing law enforcement sources, the site additionally reported that some of Thicke's organs will be donated. A company that recovers organs was already contacted following his passing.

Thicke's recent projects included recurring appearances on "How I Met Your Mother". He's also included in the second season of Netflix's "Fuller House" and gushed over the series in a tweet he posted just hours before he died. "Season 2 Fuller House looking good. I even like the ones I'm not in! #fullerhouse @fullhouseguy @bobsaget @candacecbure #netflix," so he wrote.

Some of his co-stars on the show have taken to social media to pay tribute. "So sad is the passing of Alan Thicke. Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan," Bob Saget tweeted.

Candace Cameron Bure shared a photo of her with the late star and captioned it, "I'm sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away. I've known you since I was 8 years old and so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again so recently on Fuller House. You were a part of my family and hockey family. You will be greatly missed. My heart hurts."

In addition to sons Robin and Carter, Thicke is survived by his wife Tanya Callau and another child named Brennan.
