'American Honey' Is Triumphant at British Independent Film Awards

The Sasha Lane and Shia LaBeouf-starring drama dominated the winner list with four nods, including Best Actress for Lane and Best Director for Andrea Arnold.

AceShowbiz - "American Honey" won big at the 18th Annual British Independent Film Awards held at London's Old Billingsgate on Sunday, December 4. The Sasha Lane and Shia LaBeouf-starring drama took home four gongs, including Best British Independent Film.

During the prize-giving event, the female lead, Lane, won Best Actress, while Best Director went to Andrea Arnold. Additionally, Robbie Ryan earned Outstanding Achievement in Craft prize for Cinematography.

"Under the Shadow" and "I, Daniel Blake" took home three and two nods respectively. The Farsi-language thriller earned Best Screenplay and Douglas Hickox Debut Director Award for Babak Anvari, and Best Supporting Actress for its nine-year-old star Avin Manshadi. Meanwhile, Dave Johns took home the Best Actor Award for his performance in Ken Loach's movie, which also helped Hayley Squires score Most Promising Newcomer title.

Brett Goldstein was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Adult Life Skills". Best International Independent Film went to Barry Jenkins' awards-season favorite "Moonlight", while the Best British Short Film was presented to "Jacked".
