The 'Captain America' actor says director Bernardo Bertolucci and actor Marlon Brando should have been jailed for what they did to actress Maria Schneider.

AceShowbiz - Chris Evans reacted to the shocking truth about a rape scene in 1972's movie "Last Tango in Paris". The "Captain America" actor slammed director Bernardo Bertolucci and actor Marlon Brando for conspiring to rape the actress Maria Schneider on camera.

"Wow. I will never look at this film, Bertolucci or Brando the same way again. This is beyond disgusting. I feel rage," Evans tweeted, to which Anna Kendrick responded, "Ms Schneider stated this several years ago. I used to get eye-rolls when I brought it up to people (aka dudes)."

Shocked by what he just read, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star said he "had no idea. Woulda felt rage then too. They should be in jail." Kendrick agreed with him, "I don't doubt it. It wasn't treated like a big story then(shocker). Glad at least it will be taken seriously now."

Jessica Chastain was also angry after reading the story, "To all the people that love this film- you're watching a 19yr old get raped by a 48yr old man. The director planned her attack. I feel sick."

The story went viral after a clip, which showed Bertulocci admitted in a 2013 event that the scene was not consensual, recently surfaced on the web. "The sequence of the butter is an idea that I had with Marlon in the morning before shooting," the director said. "But, I'd been in a way, horrible to Maria, because I didn't tell her what was going on. Because I wanted her reaction as a girl, not as an actress."

"I wanted her to react humiliated," he added. "I think she hated me and also Marlon because we didn't tell her that detail of the butter used as a lubricant. I feel very guilty for that." He, however, defended himself, "To obtain something I think you have to be completely free. I didn't want Maria to act her humiliation, her rage."

Schneider was only 19 when "Last Tango in Paris" was shot. The actress did say years ago that she was traumatized by the rape scene and struggled with drug addiction and depression afterwards. "I should have called my agent or had my lawyer come to the set because you can't force someone to do something that isn't in the script, but at the time, I didn't know that," she said.

"Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears. I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn't console me or apologise. Thankfully, there was just one take."

The actress passed away in 2011. "Maria accused me of having robbed her of her youth and only today am I wondering whether there wasn't some truth to that," Bertulocci said after her passing.
