Metallica Scores Sixth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'Hardwired...To Self-Destruct'

The band's tenth studio album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, beating out Bruno Mars and Miranda Lambert's new albums.

AceShowbiz - %cMetallica% scores their sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with their latest release "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct". The tenth studio album by the rock band has a total of 291,000 copies sold in the week ending November 24, including 282,000 in traditional album sales, according to Nielsen Music. The album was released through Metallica's own Blackened Recordings on November 18.

Metallica's 291,000 equivalent album units launch is the third largest debut of 2016. Ahead of it are %cDrake%'s "Views" (1.04 million copies sold) and %cBeyonce Knowles%' "Lemonade" (653,000).

Furthermore, "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct" sold more in its first week than any rock albums in two-and-a-half years. Previously, %cColdplay%'s "Ghost Stories" bowed with 382,000 copies sold in its first week back in June 2014.

At No. 2 on this week's Billboard 200 is %cBruno Mars%' "24K Magic" which debuts with 231,000 units. %cMiranda Lambert% has her new album "The Weight of These Wings" landed at No. 3 with 133,000 units. %cPentatonix%'s "A Pentatonix Christmas" and %cA Tribe Called Quest%'s "We Got it From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service" dip to No. 4 and No. 5 with 101,000 units and 59,000 units respectively.

The "Trolls" film soundtrack descends to No. 6 with 53,000 units, while %cGarth Brooks% and %cTrisha Yearwood%'s collaborative holiday album, "Christmas Together", flies from No. 11 to No. 7 with 39,000 units.

Rounding up the new top 10 are %cRae Sremmurd%'s "Sremmlife 2" which falls to No. 8 with a little more than 38,000 units, the "Hamilton" soundtrack which dips to No. 9 with 38,000 units and Drake's "Views" which bows at No. 10 with 34,000 units.
