The long-delayed 'Highlander' reboot is now reportedly searching for a screenwriter after landing a new director.

AceShowbiz - "Highlander" reboot is moving forward with a new director. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that "John Wick" co-director Chad Stahelski has boarded the long-gestating remake for Lionsgate. Now the studio is searching for a screenwriter to help crack the story.

"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school," Stahelski said. "Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces."

It means that both directors who helmed the Keanu Reeves actioner have secured a major new job each. Just a few days ago, David Leitch who worked behind the lens with Stahelski landed "Deadpool 2".

The "Highlander" revival has been stuck in development hell since 2008. "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds was once in talks to play the titular hero originated by Christopher Lambert while Tom Cruise was rumored to portray his mentor originally played by Sean Connery.
