'Highlander' Remake Gets 'John Wick' Director Chad Stahelski

The long-delayed 'Highlander' reboot is now reportedly searching for a screenwriter after landing a new director.

AceShowbiz - "Highlander" reboot is moving forward with a new director. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that "John Wick" co-director Chad Stahelski has boarded the long-gestating remake for Lionsgate. Now the studio is searching for a screenwriter to help crack the story.

"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school," Stahelski said. "Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces."

It means that both directors who helmed the %cKeanu Reeves% actioner have secured a major new job each. Just a few days ago, David Leitch who worked behind the lens with Stahelski landed "Deadpool 2".

The "Highlander" revival has been stuck in development hell since 2008. "Deadpool" star %cRyan Reynolds% was once in talks to play the titular hero originated by %cChristopher Lambert% while %cTom Cruise% was rumored to portray his mentor originally played by %cSean Connery%.
