Drizzy takes home Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for his 'Views', while Twenty One Pilots is honored with Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award.

AceShowbiz - The 2016 American Music Awards has officially started. Bruno Mars kicked off the event hosted by Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a performance of his latest hit "24K Magic".

Afterwards, "Hidden Figures" stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae took the stage to announce the first AMA winner that night. The trio presented the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award to Twenty One Pilots.

Soon, Niall Horan took the stage to perform "This Town" before Fifth Harmony followed in with their performance of "That's My Girl".

Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough later presented Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album to Drake for his record "Views". The "Hotline Bling" hitmaker pushed aside Future and Fetty Wap. He has a chance to win more gongs in 9 other categories including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.

The Chainsmokers and Halsey then went onstage to perform their hit "Closer".

The EDM duo took home Favorite Artist - Electronic Dance Music trophy presented by Ciara.

More winners will be announced as the show unfolds.
