AMAs 2016: Drake and Twenty One Pilots Are Among Early Winners

Drizzy takes home Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for his 'Views', while Twenty One Pilots is honored with Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award.

AceShowbiz - The 2016 American Music Awards has officially started. %cBruno Mars% kicked off the event hosted by %cGigi Hadid% and %cJay Pharoah% at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a performance of his latest hit "24K Magic".

Afterwards, "Hidden Figures" stars %cTaraji P. Henson%, %cOctavia Spencer% and %cJanelle Monae% took the stage to announce the first AMA winner that night. The trio presented the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award to %cTwenty One Pilots%.

Soon, %cNiall Horan% took the stage to perform "This Town" before %cFifth Harmony% followed in with their performance of "That's My Girl".

%cNina Dobrev% and %cJulianne Hough% later presented Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album to %cDrake% for his record "Views". The "Hotline Bling" hitmaker pushed aside %cFuture% and %cFetty Wap%. He has a chance to win more gongs in 9 other categories including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.

%cThe Chainsmokers% and %cHalsey% then went onstage to perform their hit "Closer".

The EDM duo took home Favorite Artist - Electronic Dance Music trophy presented by %cCiara%.
