AceShowbiz - New Line's "Mortal Kombat" reboot has found its director in Simon McQuoid. Variety brings the words that the Australian commercial filmmaker is in talks to direct the remake of Paul W.S. Anderson's 1995 film adaptation, which was based on the classic '90s popular game franchise.

Greg Russo has written the most recent draft for the movie that has been in the works for quite a long time. James Wan serves as a producer along with Atomic Monster's Michael Clear and Broken Road's Todd Garner and Jeremy Stein. Lawrence Kasanoff is executive producing.

McQuoid is one of the most in-demand commercial directors. Best known for his award-winning commercial work, he has been involved in a number of ad campaign for high-profile companies, including PlayStation, Ranger Rover, Beats by Dre and Halo.

In other news, it's reported that "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster has been appointed to take the helming duty for "Christopher Robin", Disney's live-action movie focusing on the human character in "Winnie the Pooh". According to THR, Foster will direct the pic from a script written by Alex Ross Perry.

Brigham Taylor, who was the producer behind Disney's recent mega-hit "The Jungle Book", will produce the movie, which is said to have strong elements of magical realism as it seeks to tell an emotional journey that is combined with a heartwarming adventure. Kristin Burr will oversee the project for the studio.

Foster has directed several movies of different genres. His directing credits include the acclaimed indie movie "Monster's Ball", film adaptation "The Kite Runner", comedy flick "Stranger Than Fiction" and Brad Pitt's "World War Z". He also directed "Finding Neverland", a 2004 drama chronicling the life of "Peter Pan" creator J.M. Barrie.
