The trailer teases the results of the election, an explosion and a tension between Olivia and Fitz in the upcoming season that will premiere January 19.

AceShowbiz - ABC has released the first trailer of "Scandal" season 6 and announced its premiere date. A narrator says, "In just the first 10 minutes alone, you're not going to know what hit you," as the fresh promo video is packed with intense scenes.

Mellie is excited about something they're going to see on the TV, as the election results are in. Something shocks Olivia. The best fixer in Washington is also seen having an argument with Fitz, before they later share a tender moment.

Huck and Quinn walk towards a cabin which then explodes, but they luckily are not close enough to get harmed. At the end of the video, Mellie shockingly says she's "done running for president," but Liv insists that she's not.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes previously told EW of season 6, "We are basically going to start our season on election night. Yes, it is going to play into our season, but we're not going to spend our time playing an election."

The sixth season of the drama series premieres Thursday, January 19 at 9/8c on ABC.
