National Enquirer and Star have issued statements after the actor slammed them for publishing false stories that his alleged affairs with Meg Ryan and Felicity Jones ruined his marriage.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have received apologies from multiple tabloids which ran false stories that the pair were getting a divorce. National Enquirer and Star, which said the actor's alleged affairs with his co-stars ruined his marriage, have also retracted their reports.

National Enquirer previously reported that Meg Ryan caused problems in Hanks and Wilson's relationship. In a statement just posted on its website, the tabloid wrote, "We did not intend to report that Tom Hanks was having any kind of an inappropriate relationship with Meg Ryan, or that he and Rita Wilson were divorcing."

As for Star, which claimed Wilson was jealous of Hanks' relationship with his "Inferno" co-star Felicity Jones, it said, "We did not intend to report that Tom Hanks was having any kind of an inappropriate relationship with Felicity Jones, or that he and Rita Wilson were divorcing. We apologize for and regret any implication to the contrary."

Both news outlets are owned by American Media Inc., which Hanks recently slammed as he denied the divorce rumors. "American Media Inc., owner of Star and The National Enquirer, often run fabricated stories to sell their tabloids," he said.

He added that he and his wife used to laugh off the tabloids' stories about them, but he finally decided to call out the publications because "our marriage is the foundation of our family, is sacred to us, and we couldn't allow such nonsense as we are about to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary next April."

In addition to apologizing to Hanks and Wilson, the two tabloids have changed their online stories and will run corrections in upcoming print editions.
