The footage offers a behind-the-scenes look focusing on the motion-capture process done by the actors, including Andy Serkis who depicts Caesar, as well as several shots featuring the apes.

AceShowbiz - The first footage of Matt Reeves' "War for the Planet of the Apes" was exclusively debuted at NYCC as a part of 20th Century Fox's special event on Thursday night, October 6 at the Regal theater in Times Square. It offered the attendees a behind-the-scenes look focusing on the motion-capture process done by the actors, including Andy Serkis who depicts Caesar.

Their performances in mo-cap are transformed into photo realistic apes. Serkis can be seen walking around in a grey motion-capture suit. He wields a gun and sometimes with stilts to make his arms mimic those of an ape. There are also several scenes showing the actors riding horses on both the beach and a snowy terrain.

No footage is available online as of now, but the 7-minute behind-the-scenes video opens with a dark cave behind a waterfall. [SPOILER ALERT!] Caesar and three armed apes arrive at a ramshackle house on the shore. They climb off their horses before a human suddenly rounds the corner, startling all of them. The guy reaches for a gun, but is shot down by Caesar.

They break into the house and find a young girl. Caesar's orangutan adviser Maurice (Karin Konoval) tries to comfort the girl as she is incapable of speech. It turns out that her father has just been killed outside the house. Maurice wants to take the girl with her, but Caesar refuses. He later agrees to bring the girl as seen in the next shots.

Written by Mark Bomback, "War for the Planet of the Apes" is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on July 14, 2017. Other cast members include Woody Harrelson, Judy Greer, Steve Zahn and Amiah Miller.
