'War for the Planet of the Apes' Gets Official Synopsis, First Footage Is Coming to NYCC

Along with the announcement that the first footage of the film will be screened at NYCC, Fox has released the official synopsis which promises an 'epic battle' between Caesar and 'a ruthless Colonel.'

AceShowbiz - Fox has announced that the first sneak-peek of "War for the Planet of the Apes" will be screened at New York Comic-Con next week. Andy Serkis along with director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark will show panelgoers an exclusive first look at Caesar and his gorilla soldiers at 8:30 P.M. at the Regal E-Walk Theater on October 6.

Along with the announcement, the studio has released the official synopsis of the follow-up to "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". "In 'War for the Planet of the Apes', the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel," the synopsis reads.

"After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins this own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."

In the third installment of the "Planet of the Apes" reboot franchise, Serkis will reprise his role as Caesar. He is joined by Woody Harrelson who is set to play the "ruthless Colonel." Other cast members include Judy Greer, Steve Zahn and Amiah Miller.

Written by Mark Bomback, "War for the Planet of the Apes" is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on July 14, 2017.
